Duration: 2025-2027

Funding Amount: €102.136

How might the arts cultivate prosocial attitude shifts and, in turn, serve as a bridge across diverse communities and cultures? Although cultural and art-based interventions have attracted growing scholarly attention—particularly within the discourse on art and wellbeing—the empirical foundation remains strikingly thin, underscoring the need for more refined and rigorous study designs. Is a fleeting encounter with art in a museum or gallery sufficient to generate enduring change, or does meaningful transformation require prolonged engagement within the comfort and familiarity of one’s home? Could such sustained exposure also foster a deeper, more personal connection between artist and viewer? This project will investigate these questions using longitudinal ecological momentary assessment and cross-sectional behavioural surveys.
